Workshop Descriptions

Fundamentals Workshop

The Fundamentals Workshop is designed to equip participants with the essential movement skills and techniques required for success in HYROX races (including our own In-House events). Through focused instruction and hands-on practice, we’ll break down each of the core functional exercises—such as burpee broad jumps, rowing, and wall balls—emphasising proper form, movement efficiency, and injury prevention. Whether you're new to HYROX or looking to refine your performance, this workshop will build a strong foundation for confident and effective racing.


HYROX PFT

The HYROX PFT is a great indicator of the level of fitness of all participants and will help determine which division participants should take part in during HYROX Main Events. 

All movements are meant to be done in order and the score is for time. All reps or full distance must be completed before moving on to the next movement.

Circuit Challenge

The Circuit Challenge will replace our regular scheduled HYROX classes with a fast and fun taste of fitness racing.

The Circuit Challenge is a Fitness Racing-Team based AMRAP

  1. The Circuit - 200m run, 20 Burpee Broad Jumps & 20 Walls Balls (6kg men / 4kg women) 
  2. The Erg

HYROX Race Equipment Guidelines

Mandatory Equipment

To participate, you must wear appropriate activewear:

  • Clothing: Shorts, tights, or pants that allow full range of movement.
  • Footwear: Proper athletic shoes only.
    • Not allowed: Crocs, jandals, gumboots, or any loose footwear.
    • Important: Ensure shoes are tightly secured, especially during the Sled Push to prevent slipping.

Approved Equipment

The following items are allowed during a HYROX race:

  • Gloves
  • Chalk
  • Knee sleeves
  • Wristbands & headbands
  • Hats & visors
  • Waist belts
  • Fancy dress outfits (for fun!)

Banned Equipment

The following items are strictly forbidden:

  • Headphones
  • Cell phones
  • VR headsets
  • GoPros or other body cameras


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND RULES

Do I need to be super fit to join?

Not at all. This event is for all levels. You choose your division (1km or 500m), and stations are shared in pairs or teams.

Can non-members join?

Members will get first priority and can include non-members with them if they're signing up for doubles or teams. Non-members will be able to purchase tickets at a later date. 

Do I need a partner or team?

You can sign up with a partner or team, or let us know and we’ll help match you up.

What should I bring?

Comfortable workout gear, a water bottle, and your donation item for Soul Food.

Is the Training Club Series required?

Nope — it’s totally optional. But it’s a great way to build confidence and sharpen your skills before the event.

Will the event be judged? 

​​​​​​​No -But  there will be marshalls. 

Do I need to register beforehand or can I sign up on the day?

Pre-registration is required. 

Can I participate if I’ve never done HYROX before?

Absolutely! This event is beginner-friendly and a great way to try HYROX in a supportive environment.

Are there changing rooms or showers?

Yes, changing rooms are available. Showers may be limited—check signage or ask staff on the day.

Can spectators attend and cheer?

Definitely! Spectators are welcome and encouraged to cheer on participants.

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes, free parking is available on-site.
